Morgantown, West Virginia – The #11 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers played their most impressive game of the season, rolling past the 19th ranked Richmond Spiders, 87-71.
The Mountaineers got up 52-30 with hot shooting in the first half and never looked back. West Virginia was led by sensational sophomore point guard Miles McBride, who had 20 points on 9-11 from the field and 2-2 from three point range.
Sean McNeil had his best shooting performance of the season, finishing with 12 points points on 5-8 from the field and 2-2 from three point range. Oscar Tshiebwe looked like Oscar Tshiebwe today, adding 12 points (6-8 FG) and 5 rebounds, and Derek Culver had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Taz Sherman (15 points, 5-7 FG, 2-3 3PT) and Jordan McCabe (6 points, 2-3 FG, 2-2 3PT) were outstanding off the bench.
Senior forward Nathan Cayo led Richmond with 14 points and 4 rebounds. Sophomore forward Tyler Burton added 14 points and 9 rebounds for the Spiders.
West Virginia will next play Iowa State at home on Friday, December 18th at 9:00PM in its Big 12 Conference opener. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.
