West Virginia Looks Like a Top 5 Team in the Nation

Morgantown, West Virginia – The West Virginia Mountaineers struggled to get past North Texas last game, but it’s been an entirely different story today against the 19th ranked Richmond Spiders.

West Virginia is up 52-30 at half and went on a five minute run that was by far the best of the season so far.

The Mountaineers are currently shooting 65.7% from the field and 66.7% from three point range.  Miles McBride has 16 points on 7-8 from the field and 2-2 from three point range, while Sean McNeil has finally gotten out of his rut with 9 points in the first half on 4-5 from the field and 1-1 from three point range.

Oscar Tshiebwe actually looks like Oscar Tshiebwe today (8 points, 2 rebounds), and Jordan McCabe (6 points, 2-3 FG, 2-2 3PT) and Taz Sherman (7 points, 3-4 FG, 1-2 3PT) have been terrific off the bench.

The Mountaineers have not only played better than they have all season offensively, they’ve also managed to stop a really, really good Richmond offense, who is only shooting 43% from the field and 13% from three point range.

Let’s hope this outstanding play on both ends of the floor continues in the 2nd half!
