Morgantown, West Virginia – The West Virginia Mountaineers (2-3) struggled early, getting down 17-0 at halftime, but stormed back to tie the game at 20-20 before Texas Tech (4-1) ultimately kicked a late field goal to win 23-20.
West Virginia was led by redshirt senior Jarret Doege, who finished 24/31 with 289 yards and 1 touchdown. Senior running back Leddie Brown was the leading rusher with 51 yards on 15 carries. Winston Wright had a huge game, finishing with 9 receptions for 107 yards and Isaiah Esdale had 5 catches for 84 yards and one touchdown.
