West Virginia Loses Top Defensive Player

Morgantown, West Virginia – Moments ago, Neal Brown announced that West Virginia’s star defensive lineman Akheem Messidor has left the team and decided to enter the transfer portal!

Brown said the following in today’s press conference: “Late Tuesday, I learned Akheem Messidor was entering the transfer portal. I’m candidly very surprised. I’m not angry. I’m not upset. Just hurt. I hurt because the investment and the relationship. I was really close to him. Akheem worked extremely hard and is talented.”

Brown continued: “In many ways I hurt for Akheem too because I don’t think he’s making the best long-term decision. I wish him the best. I’m sad and hurt.”

Messidor, a 6’2 270 pound junior out of Ottawa, Ontario, had 44 tackles and 6 sacks in his two seasons with the Mountaineers.

West Virginia has lost multiple starters and key reserves since the end of last season, but this might be the hardest one for the Mountaineers to recover from.
