West Virginia Oklahoma Gameday Predictions

Morgantown, West Virginia – The West Virginia Mountaineers (3-6) host the Oklahoma Sooners (5-4) today at 12:00 at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, West Virginia.  The line is currently set at -7.5 for Oklahoma and the over/under is 66.5. Here’s how our experts think the game will play out:

West Virginia has tended to do better at home than away. I think they will keep things competitive against a Sooners team that has struggled this season. However, I don’t think it will be enough, and the Sooners will win by a touchdown.

This season feels like a wrap. I just don’t see the Mountaineers putting together an offensive performance good enough to beat Oklahoma. I think Jordan Lesley’s defense gets absolutely shredded here. Bowl hopes die today.

Make no mistake about it, this is a down Oklahoma team, but it’s still Oklahoma. The Sooners are led by senior running Eric Gray, who has 902 yards (6.4 yards per carry) and 8 touchdowns this season and although starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel hasn’t been spectacular, he has certainly been consistent, throwing for 16 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions. West Virginia’s defense has been terrible this year and Oklahoma’s balanced attack is just too talented for the Mountaineers to stop.

On the other end of the ball, Oklahoma is 0-4 when it has allowed 275 rushing yards or more, and 5-0 when giving up 165 or fewer. West Virginia is missing their best running back in CJ Donaldson and only averages 161 yards per game on the season.

West Virginia has not beaten Oklahoma since joining the Big 12 Conference (0-9) and I see absolutely no reason to think that that’s going to change today.

Oklahoma in a close game early and blowout later.
