MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — The West Virginia Mountaineers scored a huge upset victory tonight by beating the Texas Longhorns 76-73 to get their first Big 12 Conference win of the season and move to 6-10 on the year.
The Mountaineers were led by an outstanding performance from senior forward Patrick Suemnick, who was in the starting lineup and had a career-high 16 points and 6 rebounds. Kerr Kriisa had 14 points and 2 assists, RaeQuan Battle had 14 points and 4 rebounds, and Quinn Slazinski added 13 points off the bench.

The schedule doesn’t get any easier next week as the Mountaineers are back in action on Wednesday, January 17 at the #9 ranked Oklahoma Sooners (13-3) and then at home on Saturday January 20 against the #3 ranked Kansas Jayhawks (14-2).
