Morgantown, West Virginia – Senior cornerback Charles Woods, who was an All-Big 12 Conference Preseason First Team member, had surgery on his ankle yesterday and could be out for the remainder of the season, although the West Virginia coaching is hopeful that he will return before the end of the season.

Woods, who was injured in the first half of the Mountaineers’ first game last week against Pitt, posted the following message last night on his social media account, saying, “I think we ain’t done yet”:

The coaching staff referred to Woods as “the top defensive back in the Big 12 Conference” during the preseason and will now have to rely on several young, inexperienced players in the secondary for the foreseeable future.
