West Virginia vs Baylor Gameday Predictions

The Voice of Morgantown’s staff picks the winner of today’s game against the West Virginia Mountaineers and the Baylor Bears.

WACO, Texas — The West Virginia Mountaineers (7-4, 5-3) travel to Waco, Texas to play the Baylor Bears (3-8, 2-6) in the final regular season game of the year for Neal Brown and the Mountaineers. West Virginia is currently a 12 point favorite to win today. Here’s how our experts think the game will play out today:

Wyatt Coffman, Graphic Designer, The Voice of Morgantown, 4-3

The season has went by quickly and I think that WVU will put together a complete performance in Waco tonight with some minor struggles early. However, WVU will pull away big time and win by a large margin. I think Garrett Greene has himself another great game and the defense returns to its pre-Houston form.

Clark Johnson, Senior Writer, The Voice of Morgantown, 8-3

This should be a game that WVU wins comfortably. However, when this is the case, the Mountaineers usually struggle. I’m taking the Mountaineers but it’ll be a little too close for comfort.

All indications out of Waco suggest that Baylor has packed it in and given up on their season. They will be without Blake Shapen, their starting quarterback and really the only bright part of the team this season, and they have almost nothing left to play for. Having said that, Baylor is a proud program and it’s easy to forget what an outstanding head coach Dave Aranda is after such a disappointing season. West Virginia would really have to have something devastating – say, Garrett Greene getting injured early or multiple turnovers – to happen if Baylor has any real shot of winning tonight. If Garrett Greene can make it through the game uninjured and West Virginia can limit turnovers, this should be an easy win for the Mountaineers.
