West Virginia’s Basketball Season is Over

KANSAS CITY — The West Virginia Mountaineers blew a 16 point lead in the second half to lose to the Cincinnati Bearcats, 90-85, in the opening around of the Big 12 Conference Championship. With the loss, the Mountaineers finished the season with a 9-23 record, which is one of the worst ever in program history.

West Virginia was led by a balanced attack with Jesse Edwards (17), Quinn Slazinski (15), RaeQuan Battle (14), Kerr Kriisa (11) and Josiah Harris (10) all scoring in double digits.

PLAY OF THE GAME: 

West Virginia’s season is now over and they will now likely dismiss Josh Eilert in the coming days as the interim head coach, and move on with the official search for its next head coach.
