West Virginia’s National Championship and Big 12 Championship Odds

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — At 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Big 12 Conference, the West Virginia Mountaineers are off to an outstanding start to the season with their lone loss coming at top ten-ranked Penn State. With the 4-1 start comes real expectations, like potentially winning a conference or even national championship.

According to Caesars Sportsbook, the Mountaineers actually have a shot – albeit very slim – at winning it all! Currently, West Virginia is +75000 to win the national championship, which is the 32nd best odds in the nation. The Georgia Bulldogs (+280), Michigan Wolverines (+300), Ohio State Buckeyes (+1000), Florida State Seminoles (+1000) and the Penn State Nittany Lions ( +1200) are the current favorites to win the national championship, according to Casears.

Although winning the national championship is an incredible longshot right now, West Virginia’s odds of winning the Big 12 Conference are substantially more realistic. Right now, the Mountaineers are +1200 to win the conference championship, behind only the Oklahoma Sooners (+100) and the Texas Longhorns (+130).

Not bad for a team predicted to finish 14th out of 14 teams in the Big 12 and thought by many to be only capable of winning a few games this season!
