West Virginia’s Next Great Quarterback

Morgantown, West Virginia – Four star quarterback Nicco Marchiol was committed to the Florida State Seminoles, but now his recruitment is wide open!

Marchiol, a 6’2 quarterback from Chandler, Arizona, was one of the Seminoles’ prize recruits in the 2022 class, but he has scheduled two official visits for June and neither are to Tallahassee, Florida.

Instead, Marchiol visited Michigan State Lansing, Michigan last weekend and will then be in Morgantown, West Virginia from June 10th – 13th.

Marchiol was a hard commit for Florida State until recently when the Seminoles received a commitment from four star quarterback AJ Duffy.

Marchiol is the type of quarterback who could come in and immediately compete for a starting position in Morgantown, but  that may not be the case at Michigan State or Florida State now.

According to Mountain Region Recruiting Analyst Blair Angulo, Marchiol has a “prototypical build and frame. Quick-release left-hander with ability to slide the pocket. Impressive presence and anticipation. Goes through progressions well and shows terrific rhythm to find targets. Steps up when he has to and keeps composure under duress. Quick release with ability to throw on the run. Athletic enough to pick up yards down field.”

Angulo went on to project Marchiol as a “multi-year starter, All-Conference type performer and a possible NFL Draft Day 3 selection.”

Flipping a major, high-impact, potential multi-year starting quarterback from Florida State would be a huge coup for head coach Neal Brown and staff.

The weekend of June 10th through the 13th will be a major weekend for the West Virginia Mountaineers.  It could be the weekend that Neal Brown lands one of the most important recruits during his in Morgantown and his future starting quarterback for the Mountaineers!
