West Virginia’s Upset Bid Denied Late By Baylor

Waco, Texas – After losing five consecutive games, the West Virginia Mountaineers needed a big win on the road and they very nearly got it at #8 ranked Baylor, but ultimately the Mountaineers fell late and lost, 81-77.

Senior guard Taz Sherman had an outstanding performance, finishing with a career-high 29 points (10-15 FG, 6-11 3PT), 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Sherman was unable to finish the game with an injury after being hit in the face by a Baylor defender. Sean McNeil had 16 points and 5 rebounds, and Jalen Bridges added 8 points.

The Mountaineers will now return home for two home games against ranked opponents. West Virginia play the #14 ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday, February 5th and then the 20th ranked Iowa State Cyclones next Tuesday, February 8th at 7:00PM.
