What for Mountaineer Fans to Watch During Another Bye Week

West Virginia is on their second bye week of the shortened 2020 season. As we sit in boredom this weekend as our boys will not be taking the field, we will be channel surfing for another game. Here are some matchups that Mountaineer fans may be interested in tuning into this Saturday.

  • Texas vs Oklahoma, Noon on Fox:

Who doesn’t love the Red River Rivalry? Unlike most years, this will be an odd matchup between the two. Both are coming off of losses, and need the victory to stay alive in the Big 12 title hunt. Whoever makes the least mistakes between Sam Ehlinger and Spencer Rattler will come out on top in this matchup. Mountaineer fans should tune in to see how the conference race will ultimately begin to shape up.
  • Texas Tech at Iowa State, 3:30 on ABC:

This is quite the intriguing matchup for Big 12 fans. Want to see if Iowa State is legit? Or how about if the Red Raiders will be able to turn it around? The Red Raiders and Cyclones have so much potential in this matchup, making it an attraction for Mountaineer fans to tune into as they sulk away on their couch.

  • Western Kentucky at Marshall, 7:30 on Stadium:

I will be the first to admit that Grant Wells is a hell of a good time to watch. The redshirt freshman was able to lead the Thundering Herd to a victory over nationally ranked Appalachian State. If you have access to Stadium, this will be a fun matchup to watch. The Hilltoppers are a solid football team, and the Herd could potentially get on a roll with a victory. Whether you decide to root for little brother or not – that’s your choice.

  • Virginia Tech at UNC, Noon on ABC:
Take some time during the Red River Rivalry on Saturday to flip to this ranked-matchup between the Hokies and Tar Heels. Mack Brown’s North Carolina squad is a lot of fun to watch, and should provide a stiff test for Fuente’s Hokies. Of course, I will personally be rooting for the Tar Heels here. But if you hope the Hokies can pull this one off, be our guest.
