Linebacker Tony Fields II has been a pleasant surprise for the Mountaineers. Since transferring to WVU last summer, he has become a leader on the defense, while tallying 79 tackles, one sack and one interception.
Yesterday, it was officially announced that Fields had accepted an invite to play in the Reese’s Senior Bowl this January. With the former Arizona Wildcat quickly gaining traction on draft boards, many are beginning to wonder where he may go in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft.
According to DraftScout.com, Fields is currently listed as a fifth or sixth round selection. He is also rated as the eighth overall inside linebacker in the 2021 class. However, the site also indicates that his stock is currently rising, and judging by his play on the field, it will not be slowing down anytime soon.
Fields’ current draft stock fluctuates from site to site. Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN currently has him the fifth overall inside linebacker in the upcoming draft. Despite his stock seeming considerably low at the moment, the NFL Draft is still months away. We should only expect him to continue to improve, as well as continue to catch the eye of several scouts at the next level.
