Where is Jose Perez?

Morgantown, West Virginia – Although Manhattan transfer Jose Perez is not eligible to play for the West Virginia Mountaineers this season, he is allowed to practice with the team and sit with his teammates on the bench.

Perez, a 6’5 guard who was chosen as the preseason Player of the Year in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, averaged 18.9 points, 4.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds last season and was unfairly denied eligibility by the NCAA this season.

Perez has sat with his teammates on the bench for games this season, but was noticeably absent yesterday during the Mountaineers’ 91-63 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners. However, The Voice of Motown has learned that Perez was simply not feeling well and stayed home to rest.

Although there has been some speculation about whether Perez will remain with the Mountaineers next season or pursue other professional opportunities, all indications point towards him using his final year of eligibility and playing for West Virginia next season.
