Why Baylor is a Must Win for Neal Brown

WVU’s 27-13 loss to Oklahoma State on Saturday was nothing short of disappointing. The entirety of the game brought fans nightmarish flashbacks of the 2019 season with significant offensive struggles. Despite moving the ball between the 20s, the Mountaineers failed to capitalize and score points. While much of this could be attributed to the Cowboys’ defensive experience, West Virginia’s offense failed to show any true improvements against a legitimate opponent.

Now in year two of Neal Brown, fans across the Mountain State are expecting the Mountaineers to take some sort of step forward. While the on-field play is certainly expected to be better, fans also want more games to go in the win column.

If Neal Brown wants to keep fans content and off of his back, then a win against Baylor is absolutely mandatory. Starting year two 1-2 would not bring much excitement to the fanbase. Much of the irrational portion of the group may even begin to question Brown.

For the confidence to remain in “The Climb,” West Virginia has to clean up their play and produce more offensively against Baylor. And yes – this game must…MUST go in the win column. Bowl eligibility likely lies in which way this game turns out.

We have faith Neal Brown can get it done, and Baylor is the perfect opportunity to turn the corner.
