Will Nicco Marchiol Play Immediately? Neal Brown Gives His Answer

Morgantown, West Virginia – West Virginia landed one of their most important recruits in program history today when Nicco Marchiol signed to play for the Mountaineers.

The question now becomes how quickly Marchiol will have an opportunity to see the field?

Head coach Neal Brown answered this question and more today during his signing day press conference.

“He’s got some ‘it’ factor,” Brown said of Marchiol. “He’s going to be a guy that’s a fan favorite from day 1. He’s got the charisma. He’s got strong leadership capabilities. He’s a student of the game. He loves football. He’s been groomed from an early age by his father Ken to be a Division One and and hopefully an NFL quarterback.”

Brown continued: “He’s the first to congratulate his teammates when they score. He meets the defense when they come off the field and he’s got those other intangibles that makes you say these are the things that really takes someone that’s really talented and makes them special.”

When asked whether will see immediate playing time as a freshman, Brown said the following: “Let’s get him here first. I think there are a lot of freshmen that play in college football. Not at quarterback, but there are quarterbacks that get ready to play. I’ll be able to give you a lot better answer to that during spring practice.”
