Though WVUSports.com still has him listed as #16, junior wide receiver Winston Wright Jr. confirmed via Twitter that he will be taking on a new number in 2021.

The Savannah, Georgia native tweeted “new number this year,” implying that when the Mountaineers take the field in September, he will no longer don the #16 jersey.
With the graduation of T.J. Simmons, could Wright pick up #1 and closely resemble Mountaineer legend Tavon Austin? Only time will tell, but that seems like a fantastic idea.
A big season is on the horizon for Mr. Wright!
