MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — West Virginia continues to quietly stack talent in the 2027 class, and the latest addition brings serious speed out of South Florida.

Hollywood (FL) Miami Carol City running back Lee Prince Jr. has officially committed to the Mountaineers, giving WVU another explosive playmaker in the pipeline.

At 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, Prince Jr. chose West Virginia over a strong list of offers that included Boston College, Florida State, Oregon, Pitt, Purdue, SMU, UCF, UNLV, and others. Pulling a prospect out of that kind of offer sheet, especially from Florida, is not nothing.

It is a big time win for the staff.

A Statement Commitment

Prince Jr. made his announcement on Instagram, and if you read between the lines, this is a kid who is all in.

He thanked Rich Rodriguez, Travis Trickett, Jay Boulware, and Noel Devine, pointing specifically to the belief and vision the WVU staff showed him. That matters. Especially when you are going into Florida and battling major programs.

And the message?

Confident. Motivated. Ready to work.

“From Carol City to the mountains… I’m ready to WORK, ready to stand on business, and ready to represent at the highest level. Mountaineer Nation… the lion is on the way!”

Yeah… WVU fans are going to like this one.

Production That Pops

Turn on the numbers and it jumps off the page.

As a junior, Prince Jr. rushed for 765 yards and 9 touchdowns on just 63 carries. That is over 12 yards per carry. Let that sink in.

This is not volume production. This is explosive, big play production.

He is the type of back that does not need 25 touches to change a game. Give him a crease and it might be over.

Building Something in 2027

This commitment is another sign that West Virginia is gaining traction on the recruiting trail, especially in talent rich areas like Florida.

When you can go into a place like Miami Carol City, beat out Power Five programs, and land a playmaker, that tells you something about the direction of the program.

And it is not just about adding bodies. It is about adding speed, explosiveness, and guys who believe in what WVU is building.

The Bottom Line

Lee Prince Jr. is not just another name in the 2027 class.

He is a statement pickup.

Dynamic. Productive. Confident.

And if his high school production is any indication, Mountaineer fans might want to get used to hearing his name sooner rather than later.
