Morgantown, WV – Just days after the SEC announced their intentions to go to a 9-game conference slate in 2026, the WVU-Alabama series slated for 2026 and 2027 has been axed. According to Mike Casazza of EerSports, the Mountaineers and the Crimson Tide have mutually agreed to cancel their upcoming home-and-home series.

This now leaves the Mountaineers with an open non-conference slot in both 2026 and 2027, which have been filled promptly, per a media release from the school.
Replacing Alabama in 2026 for the Mountaineers will be Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers are slated to visit Milan Puskar Stadium on September 5, 2026. As for the 2027 opening, Southern Miss will visit Morgantown on September 4, 2027.
