MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — I couldn’t be more proud of this West Virginia baseball team.

The final score may not have been what Mountaineer Nation wanted, but it doesn’t change what this group accomplished. This team battled. This team believed. And this team represented the Flying WV with toughness, heart, and pride every step of the way.

When the season began, few outside of Morgantown expected West Virginia to accomplish what it did. Yet game after game, series after series, the Mountaineers continued to prove people wrong. They won the Big 12 regular-season championship. They hosted a regional. They reached Omaha for the first time in program history. They won a game at the College World Series. And they finished as one of the final four teams standing in all of college baseball.

That’s not just a great season.

That’s a historic season.

What made this team special wasn’t just the wins. It was the way they won. Time and time again, they responded when their backs were against the wall. They overcame adversity. They answered challenges. They played for each other. Whether it was a dominant pitching performance, a clutch hit in a big moment, or simply finding a way to grind out a victory, this team never stopped competing.

And that’s why this group will be remembered.

Years from now, Mountaineer fans will talk about this team. They’ll remember the magical run through the Big 12. They’ll remember the atmosphere in Morgantown during the postseason. They’ll remember Omaha. They’ll remember the players who wore the Flying WV across their chest and carried an entire state with them on this incredible journey.

Most importantly, they’ll remember how this team made them feel.

Proud.

Proud to be a Mountaineer. Proud of the way these young men competed. Proud of the way they represented West Virginia on the national stage.

The season may be over, but what this team accomplished will last forever. They raised the standard for West Virginia baseball. They showed what is possible. And they gave Mountaineer Nation memories that will never fade.

Thank you, Mountaineers.

What a ride it was.
