WVU Holds Off South Dakota State

In the 2020-21 season opener, the West Virginia Mountaineers were able to hold off the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, 79-71.

The Mountaineers used a strong offensive effort from Miles McBride to propel them over South Dakota State. McBride finished with 23 points, 3 assists, and 1 rebound. Taz Sherman would also have a solid night offensively off the bench, finishing with 14 points.

The Mountaineers struggled to shoot the ball most of the night, and finished hitting 39% of their shots. They were even worse from beyond the three-point arch, hitting only 8 of their 32 shots.

Nonetheless, WVU is now 1-0 on the season. The Mountaineers will play the winner of VCU and Utah State tomorrow.
