Morgantown, WV – Moments ago, Rich Rodriguez and the West Virginia Mountaineers added to their 2026 class with the addition of a tight end. Sam Hamilton, a 247Sports three-star prospect out of Ohio, has committed to play for WVU via X. Hamilton is the very first commit of West Virginia’s 2026 class! Last season at Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, the same school former WVU star basketball player Miles McBride attended, Hamilton had 22 receptions for 272 yards and 5 touchdowns as a sophomore.

Hamilton, who stands at 6’4”, has garnered many different offers from various FBS programs. Other than WVU, Hamilton has been offered by Houston, Washington, Kentucky, and Georgia Tech.
He becomes one of the first high school additions under new head coach Rich Rodriguez. More commitments are expected in the coming days as Rodriguez and his staff has been hot on the recruiting trail.
