Morgantown, WV – Earlier this morning, Rich Rodriguez and the West Virginia Mountaineers landed a talented prospect out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. Grayson Barnes, a tight end from Northern Illinois University, has committed to the Mountaineers via X.
After entering the Transfer Portal, I am very happy and blessed to announce that I am 100% Committed to West Virginia!!! #mountaineers #HardEdge @NYSEandeasy @WVUfootball pic.twitter.com/emHiYOAQ8K

Barnes, who will have one season of eligibility remaining, put together an impressive 2024 season with the Huskies. Hauling in 31 receptions, the California native accumulated 338 yards and 4 receiving touchdowns.
He joins a West Virginia tight ends room that is looking to reload following the departure of Kole Taylor. Coach Rich Rodriguez has already addressed this position in the transfer portal during the winter window. The most notable addition to this point, prior to Barnes, was West Virginia native Jacob Barrick.
Expect many more additions to the Mountaineer roster in the coming days.
Stay tuned to The Voice of Morgantown for transfer portal updates.
