Earlier this evening, WVU redshirt freshman defensive lineman Aric Burton announced that he was entering the NCAA Transfer Portal via Twitter.

Burton was a member of WVU’s 2022 recruiting class. He was a three-star prospect according to 247Sports. Holding five offers coming out of high school – Arizona State, Charlotte, Kansas, and Minnesota along with WVU – Burton committed to the Mountaineers on June 28th, 2021.

His only appearance in his WVU career came against Towson in a 65-7 victory last season. Unfortunately for Burton, he could not make the most of his performance in mop-up time, finishing with one tackle.

The Mountaineers have now lost two reserve players to the transfer portal since the conclusion of spring camp.
