It’s that time of year again, ladies and gentlemen.
It is time for the musket to be passed down to the next great Mountaineer mascot.

Today, West Virginia University will make the announcement of the next Mountaineer mascot when the men’s basketball team takes on the Kansas State Wildcats at 2 p.m.
Not saying we pick favorites, but Mikel is the obvious choice here. He has the LOOK of the Mountaineer. WVU has one of the most unique mascots in college athletics, so why not give it to someone who has a very distinct appearance.
