The WVU-Penn State matchup scheduled for September 2nd began to garner excitement last week when the kickoff time for the game was accidentally leaked. Penn State linebacker Abdul Carter shared a photo that included the kickoff time, which is 7:30 p.m., on his Instagram earlier last week.

Now, according to Penn State Football’s Twitter page, the game may just be broadcasting on NBC. Heartland College Sports was the first to report the story.

Penn State is expected to have games broadcasted on NBC this fall, and many are speculating that their season opener against West Virginia may be included in the lineup.

It has been 31 years since the two sides collided on the gridiron. There has been an exciting buzz surrounding the series since it was announced to return in 2013. The game now potentially being slated for national television will only increase the anticipation for the renewed rivalry.

Penn State leads the all-time series against West Virginia, 48-9-2.
