In the opening game of the Coastal Carolina University Baseball Tournament, the Mountaineers picked up a decisive win over the Kennesaw State Owls, 13-3.

West Virginia got things going early scoring runs in each of the first three innings. Things really began to open up in the third inning when Matt McCormick hit his third home run of the season to put the Mountaineers up 3-0, en route to a 4-run inning.

West Virginia finished with 13 hits to Kennesaw State’s 7. They also escaped without an error, while the Owls notched 4.
The Mountaineers take on Coastal Carolina tomorrow in their second game of the tournament. The first pitch is set for 3 p.m. and it will broadcast on ESPN+.
West Virginia is now 3-2 on the season.
