WVU Players and Coaches Celebrate Bob Huggins 900th Win

Morgantown, West Virginia – Bob Huggins finally got his 900th career win when his West Virginia Mountaineers defeated Morehead State in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament!

With the win, Huggins joins Mike Krzyzewski, Jim Boeheim, Bob Knight and Roy Williams as the 5th head coach in Division I basketball to reach 900 wins.

Huggins said the following about his 900th win:  “I love our players this year and it’s gratifying that they can be a part of it.  They enjoy it a lot more than I do.  It’s pretty neat that they will have something to look back on and share with whomever, and hopefully it’s one of the positive things to happen in their athletic career.

It took ’em long enough, you know? Took us three games to finally get there.  That was their topic of conversation, it wasn’t mine.  That tells you what kind of guys we have.  We’ve got really good guys.”

Miles “Deuce” McBride, who finished the game with a game-high 30 points, said that 900 wins is huge for Coach Huggins: “It definitely means a lot.  With him being the first and only major Division 1 coach to offer me. Thinking back to that and how he showed a lot of trust and loyalty to me, I was going to come back and be a great player.  Being able to be here and to get that 900th win, it means a lot and I’m really happy we got it done today.”
