With WVU’s 42-6 loss to Iowa State, and TCU’s 29-22 win over Oklahoma State, there has been some shakeup in the latest bowl predictions.

Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach of ESPN released their post-week 14 bowl projections this morning, and they have changed up the Mountaineers’ bowl destination from previous weeks. The two have been dead set on West Virginia receiving an invitation to the Autozone Liberty Bowl, but now have them making the trip to Arizona to play in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl on December 26th.

Both are in agreement in West Virginia’s opponent, pinning them up against P.J. Fleck’s Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Gophers have struggled in 2020 after a magical 2019 season. Coming off of an 11-win season, Fleck’s squad has only been able to muster a 2-3 record with a date with Nebraska remaining this Saturday. Their season was significantly impacted by COVID-19 after the Big Ten didn’t begin their season until October 24th.

The Mountaineers and Golden Gophers have never met before on the gridiron. Since the game is held in Arizona, the game is not scheduled to kickoff until 10:15 at night. It will be televised on ESPN.
