MORGANTOWN, WV – Earlier today, Jeff Borzello of ESPN named five potential coaching candidates for the Mountaineer Men’s Basketball team to replace current intern head coach Josh Eilert. Atop the list was none other than Florida Atlantic’s Dusty May.
May, who has been with the Owls for six seasons, has compiled a 121-66 record with a Final Four appearance in 2023. He is easily the highest profile included on Borzello’s list for WVU.
According to the article, “Wren Baker has essentially been running a search since this summer” after Bob Huggins was forced to resign. “Dusty May has long been perceived to be Baker’s top target, though he could have better opportunities this Spring, or opt to stay in Boca Raton.”
The other coaches mentioned in the article:
Mark Byington – James Madison
Dustin Kerns – Appalachian State
Niko Medved – Colorado State
Pat Kelsey – College of Charleston
WVU’s coaching search is expected to gain a huge amount of traction in the coming weeks as the season winds down.
