WVU’s First Opponent Protests Prior to First Game

Prior to taking the field against Marshall today, Eastern Kentucky, WVU’s season opening opponent next week, protested social injustice.

Players wore shirts that read “say their names” on the front, and “enough is enough” on the back. This in reference to the many African Americans who have lost their lives due to the abusing of force by police officers, and police brutality.

The team also released a statement saying they “stands in solidarity with teams around the United States.”

It is likely several teams across the nation will continue this trend as the season opens.
