Morgantown, WV – While the West Virginia University Football program has many questions heading into the 2025 season, one area that fans and analysts alike have displayed confidence in is the running back room. Jahiem White returns to head a position group that is expected to lead the Mountaineers to success this season and beyond. Accompanied by transfers Jaylan Knighton and Tye Edwards, Rich Rodriguez will likely rely on White and the running backs to return to bowl eligibility in his first season back in Morgantown.
Earlier today, Jahiem White shared some statistics that will only strengthen the excitement surrounding the running backs.
In an Instagram post, White has shared the 40-yard dash times for the entire running back unit. Newcomer Cyncir Bowers had the fastest time out of all of them. However, his teammates weren’t far behind him.
Jahiem White clocked at 4.48 in the 40 after 2 knee surgeries this offseason! 💨

The 40-yard dash times are as follows:
– Cyncir Bowers = 4.35
– Jahiem White = 4.48
– Kannon Katzer = 4.56
– Jaylan Knighton = 4.58
– Diore Hubbard = 4.6
– Clayton Ash = 4.62
– Tye Edwards = 4.63
Rodriguez’s offense operates best when his personnel has speed – particularly in the backfield. With these times, the Mountaineers will not be lacking speed during the 2025 season. If the offensive line can adjust well with the large amount of newcomers added, West Virginia could possess what is easily one of the more dangerous offenses in the entire Big 12 Conference. West Virginia will also be welcoming a new offensive line coach in Jack Bicknell Jr.
Jahiem White and Diore Hubbard are the only two returners who have previously carried the ball for the Mountaineers. During his first two seasons, White has tallied 257 carries for 1,686 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. He has also added 24 receptions for 247 yards and 3 receiving touchdowns.
Hubbard, who has spent only one season with the Mountaineers, has only notched 1 carry for 1 yard.
