Akok Akok Commits to West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — The West Virginia Mountaineers have just landed Akok Akok, a former five star and top 75 prospect.

Akok, a 6’10 forward from Manchester, New Hampshire, averaged 6.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for the Georgetown Hoyas last season. Akok previously played for UCONN, where he averaged 5.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game as a freshman.

In addition to being a tremendous rebounder and defender, Akok is a gifted athlete who is capable of making three pointers. Although it is early, Akok will almost certainly start next to Jesse Edwards in the Mountaineers’ front court.

West Virginia has been rumored as the potential destination for Akok for the past few weeks after his close friend, Jose Perez, decided to return to play for the Mountaineers. With Perez back and Akok joining the team, West Virginia will have a talented, veteran starting lineup featuring Kerr Kriisa, Perez, RaeQuan Battle (if his waiver is approved), Akok and Jesse Edwards.
