Andy Kennedy Denies That He is Taking West Virginia Job

Andy Kennedy, the current head coach at UAB, took to social media to deny late-night reports that he is taking the head coach position at West Virginia.

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — It appears that West Virginia has missed out on perhaps its top choice in Andy Kennedy, the head coach at UAB. After multiple late-night reports linked Kennedy to taking the job, he responded on social media by saying, “Don’t be a sheep. Fake News. Just Blaze.”

That is a pretty emphatic response by Kennedy, who is a former Bob Huggins’ assistant and was seen as a natural replacement for Huggins. West Virginia is now expected to turn its attention to other candidates. Names we’ve heard are Jerrod Calhoun from Youngstown State, Pat Kelsey of College of Charleston and even former West Virginia head coach John Beilein.
