Baylor Could Be Without Starting Quarterback Against WVU

Baylor Quarterback Blake Shapen is dealing with a “head injury,” according to Head Coach Dave Aranda.

Waco, TX – Not much has went right for the Baylor Bears in 2023. Sitting with a 3-8 record, including 2-6 in Big 12 play, not many are expecting them to put up much of a fight against WVU on Saturday.

Well, things may have just gotten harder for the Bears with the latest news surrounding their starting quarterback.

According to Bears Head Coach Dave Aranda, starting quarterback Blake Shapen is “dealing with a head injury,” and his status for the WVU game “isn’t looking great.”

Darby Brown of KWTX News 10 shared the news via X.

Losing Shapen would be a big blow to Baylor’s chances of pulling the upset on Saturday. The Louisiana native has compiled 2,188 yards and 13 touchdowns to 3 interceptions through the air. He has also added 4 rushing touchdowns.

If he is unable to go, then it would likely be Sawyer Robertson getting the start. The Lubbock, Texas native has passed for 649 yards and 1 touchdown to 4 interceptions this season.

Stay tuned to The Voice of Motown for updates on the situation.
