Former West Virginia Star Says “Free Huggs”

Former West Virginia star Gabe Osabuohien showed support for his old head coach on social media.

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Following Bob Huggins’ DUI arrest, he now claims that he didn’t resign as the head coach of the West Virginia Mountaineers and wants his job back.

Huggins, 69, said the following in a statement released today: “The basketball program is in need and I have a strong desire to conclude my career as the Head Basketball Coach for the program I love. I hope to meet with WVU in the near future to resolve the situation.”

Although Huggins has lost a great deal of support around the state and with fans of the Mountaineers, there are many people that believe he deserves another chance.

Gabe Osabuohien, who played for the Mountaineers from 2019-2021, posted a message of support to his former head coach today, simply saying, “Free Huggs.”

Osabuohien was recently in a serious car accident and plays for the Cleveland Charge in the NBA G League.
