Jose Perez Addresses Rumors That He’s Leaving

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Earlier in the week, rumors started on message boards that West Virginia guard Jose Perez could potentially transfer. It was said that Perez was interested in potentially returning home to play for St. John’s and his former head coach at Manhattan, who is now an assistant under Rick Pitino.

However, Perez shot those rumors down today with the following message: “I’d like to debunk all of the rumors now and let my family and Mountaineer Nation know that I’m not going anywhere and me and my brothers are determined to do something special this year. Just wanted to calm all this speculation down and get focused on the big offseason  ahead. Let’s Go!”

Perez, a 6’5 senior from Bronx, New York, averaged 18.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game at Manhattan during the 2021-2022 season before sitting out last season.
