Montre Miller Enters the Transfer Portal

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — The West Virginia Mountaineers lost another potential contributor to their defense this morning when Montre Miller officially announced that he’s leaving the football program and entering the transfer portal.

Miller, a 5’11 defensive back from Blythewood, South Carolina, played one season for the Mountaineers in 2023, and he transferred from Kent State. At Kent State, he started all 12 games at cornerback as a junior, finishing with 52 tackles, including 40 solo stops, two interceptions, eight pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Although Miller is a talented defensive player, he was unable to get on the field for the Mountaineers last season, appearing in only 1 game and finishing with 3 tackles. Yesterday, West Virginia added Dontez Fagan, a transfer cornerback from Charlotte, presumably to replace Miller on the depth chart.
