Mountaineers Defeat Red Raiders 66-54

The 17th ranked West Virginia Mountaineers defeated the #22 Texas Tech Red Raiders by a score of 66-54 to move to 13-2 overall and 2-1 in the Big 12 Conference on the season.

West Virginia was led by freshman guard Miles McBride, who came off the bench to score a career-high 22 points (8-11 FG and 1-1 from 3PT).  In addition to his outstanding offensive performance, he also shut down Texas Tech’s best player, Jahmi’us Ramsey, who was held to 8 points on 3-15 from the field.

Sophomore forward Derek Culver added 9 points and 7 rebounds, while freshman Oscar Tshiebwe had 7 points and 17 rebounds.  The game was sold out and an announced Coliseum crowd of 14,111 was very much into the action throughout the game.

The Red Raiders were paced by junior guard Davide Moretti, who had 16 points.  West Virginia outrebounded Texas Tech 44-33.  The Mountaineers will next play at home against TCU on Tuesday, January 14th at 9PM.  The game will be televised on ESPNU.
