Neal Brown Thrilled Following West Virginia Win

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — The West Virginia Mountaineers (3-1) won their 3rd consecutive game for the first time under Neal Brown by hanging on to beat the Texas Texas Tech Red Raiders (1-3), 20-13. After the game, Brown was thrilled with the effort of his team and had the following to say about the victory:

“The fans were really invested and were really loud. They had a real impact on this game and our crowd made it really difficult for their offense. We had a 3 game stretch at home and we swept it. We beat a rival last week and a beat a team that has had our number the last couple of years today.

I thought Nicco (Marchiol) did some really good things. The first interception was bad, but the second one wasn’t his fault. He made some big throws. For a guy making his first stop in the wet, he played really well. We’ve got to be better around him and the guys surrounding him.

We are a prideful group. We were embarassed about last year at Texas Tech and we responded. A win is a win. It wasn’t pretty last week and it wasn’t pretty today, but a win is a win. I’m really pleased to get to 1-0 in the conference.”
