MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — After adding Illinios transfers Sencire Harris and Amani Hansberry over the weekend, the West Virginia basketball program has added another key player from the transfer portal today.
Toby Okani, a 6’8 senior from Orange, New Jersey, has committed to play for the Mountaineers today. Okani recently cut his list to five schools – Pepperdine, West Virginia, LSU, Virginia, and St. Bonaventure, and reportedly visited LSU, Virginia and West Virginia.
Okani began his career at Duquesne before transferring to UIC, where he has been a consistent starter for the last two seasons. During the 2023-2024 season, Okani averaged 11.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. He shot 32.0% from three point range, 39.4% from the field, and 57.1% from the free throw line.
Okani is a defensive specialist, averaging 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals per game, and was a member of the Missouri Valley Conference All-Defensive Team.
Okani has one year of eligiblity remining and will likely start for the Mountaineers next season.
