MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Today is the start of the college football season and ESPN’s College Gameday is making its season debut! Pat McAfee, a former West Virginia punter/kicker, is now one of the hosts of the show, and he made a very bold prediction for his Mountaineers this season:
“The West Virginia Mountaineers and Garrett Greene are the dark horses this year in the Big 12! Remember, the offensive line is returning all five starters this year, two All-Americans on there, a top ten offensive line in the country. Use that NIL money, pay your running backs. We’ve got a good defense and this team could potentially become something, or it could be Neal Brown’s last year. One or the other.”
“There’s a chance. We beat Penn State in Week 1 and we go on a run. We beat Penn State in Week 1, Garrett Green runs wild in Happy Valley, then we’re going to beat Duquesne and then we’ll have Pitt in the Backyard Brawl in Week 3 with College Gameday in the house! It’s going to happen.”
Love the optimism for the upcoming season! Let’s Go Mountaineers!
