Pittsburgh Linebacker Becomes First 2026 WVU Commit

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Fresh off the annual Gold-Blue Spring Game, future Mountaineers are starting to commit to play for Neal Brown and West Virginia today. The first 2026 recruit committed to play for the Mountaineers when Daiveon Taylor announced that he will play for West Virginia.

Taylor, a 3 star linebacker from Aliquippa, chose the Mountaineers over offers from Pitt, Penn State, Syracause and several other programs. Taylor explained his decision to On3.com’s Steve Wiltfong, saying, “The coaching staff mainly,” Taylor said of what he loved about West Virginia. “Coach Koonz…we hit it off really good from the first time we met and our relationship has just improved over time.

I also love how they use their linebackers and I like the plan he has in mind for me I feel like that’s where I fit in at. I feel like I found my fit and I want to just focus on football and getting better and graduating early so I can play spring ball and try to get on the field as a freshman.”
