West Virginia Hires New Assistant Coach

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — According to 247 Sports’ Matt Zenitz, the West Virginia Mountaineers have hired a new defensive assistant coach!

Zenitz posted the following message on social media moments ago: “West Virginia is expected to hire Appalachian State’s Victor Cabral as outside linebackers coach. Aided by Cabral, App State improved this year to fourth in the Sun Belt in sacks and sixth in tackles for loss after ranking seventh and 12th in those categories in 2022.”

Cabral, 42, has experience coaching at Georgia Southern, Georgia Military, Samford and Applachian State. He also played college football at Georgia Southern and professionally for the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League.
