West Virginia versus Oklahoma State Gameday Predictions

The Voice of Morgantown’s staff picks the winner of today’s game against the West Virginia Mountaineers and Oklahoma State.

Houston, Texas  – The West Virginia Mountaineers (4-2, 2-1) will host the Oklahoma State Cowboys (4-2, 2-1) in what is a must-win game for Neal Brown and the West Virginia Mountaineers. Here’s how our experts think the game will play out today:

Wyatt Coffman, Graphic Designer, The Voice of Morgantown, 0-2

This is a critical point in the season for West Virginia. With a win, they prove their resiliency and determination and will move to one win from bowl eligibility. However, with a loss their season could quickly slip out of control on the road to UCF next week. Oklahoma State had a rough start to the season and are looking to propel themselves further in the right direction after their recent wins over Kansas and Kansas State. I think WVU will run the ball effectively and will struggle on defense in the beginning. WVU must have a clean game with limited penalties and no turnovers to keep this game in their control. In the end, I think the Mountaineers turn the page and win a close one at home to move to 5-2 on the season and show their physical grit and mental toughness.

I’ll keep using reverse psychology.

Talent-wise, this is a very even matchup. Mike Gundy is a way better head coach than Neal Brown. West Virginia will have the home field advantage. With that all said, this should be a really, really good football game. Neal Brown doesn’t win big games when they matter the most. This is a must-win game for the Mountaineers but it’s also a must-win for Oklahoma State, who suffered an embarrassing early-season loss at home to South Alabama. In a close matchup with even talent, I will always pick Mike Gundy over Neal Brown.
