Wren Baker Makes Announcement on Neal Brown’s Future

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — This morning, West Virginia’s director of athletics, Wren Baker, appeared on MetroNews Talkline with Hoppy Kercheval and Kercheval immediately asked if Neal Brown will be back as the head coach of the Mountaineers next year. Brown started the season on the hot seat after 4 seasons of mediocrity and below average results on the field, and there has been some speculation as to whether Brown would return, even after finishing the season 8-4 overall and 6-3 in Big 12 play.

However, Baker has confirmed that Neal Brown will be the head coach at West Virginia in 2024.

Brown will return despite going 30-29 overall and 20-24 in the Big 12 Conference in 5 seasons with the program. In addition, West Virginia has not been in the Top 25 during Brown’s tenure and the Mountaineers have gone 0-16 against teams that finish in the Top 25 over the last five seasons.
