WVU recent win streak helps in tournament projections

West Virginia’s rebound in the last week of the regular season has nudged the Mountaineers up a spot in the latest NCAA tournament projection.

With the Power 6 conferences wrapping up regular-season play over the weekend, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi released his regular-season finale Bracketology forecast. Lunardi has WVU a No. 7 seed in the Midwest Region. He has West Virginia playing in the St. Louis pod and opening against 10th seeded USC. CBS Jerry Palm has the Mountaineers as a No. 6 seed in the East Region in his regular-season finale forecast. Palm has West Virginia playing in the Cleveland pod and opening against the play-in game winner of 11 seeds UCLA and Rutgers. West Virginia is also a seven seed in the SB Nation forecast. SB Nation has WVU as a seventh seed in the South Region and playing in the St. Louis pod. The projection has the Mountaineers opening against Arizona State (10).
