Despite the odds being stacked against them, WVU is primed to win in 2023.
Morgantown, WV – Nobody likes losing – that’s just human nature. Sitting with a 22-26 record in just over five seasons, Neal Brown and the Mountaineers know that the product on the field is simply not good enough.
While many outlets preach doom and gloom for the Mountaineers, there are still many reasons to believe that they can turn around their fortunes this season.
We have compiled a list of three reasons that the Mountaineers will win in 2023.

- The Big 12 is Down – Just in case you missed it last Saturday, several Big 12 teams underperformed. Texas Tech, Baylor, and TCU all dropped their season openers, and currently sit at 0-1 with WVU. All three are on the schedule for the Mountaineers, and will be winnable matchups. With a win over Duquesne and Pitt, and if they can pull off all three of those wins, WVU will only need to find one more win for bowl eligibility.
- CJ Donaldson & the O-Line – This group doesn’t really need an introduction. Easily the brightest spot for West Virginia against Penn State was the running game. If they can keep up the momentum, and we believe they will, the offense will become a problem for many Big 12 programs.
- This Team Looks More Disciplined – Believe it or not, WVU played a pretty clean game against Penn State on offense. After finishing with no turnovers and only 5 penalties, there is reason to believe that this team won’t beat themselves. These stats alone, if they can keep trending in that direction, can win the Mountaineers a game or two.
