A Message From West Virginia’s Next Baseball Head Coach

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia — Yesterday, it was announced that West Virginia baseball head coach Randy Mazey will step aside and Steve Sabins, the current associate head coach, will take over the program.

Sabins, who has been with the program as an assistant coach, recruiting coordinator and associate head coach for the past 8 seasons, took to social media today to explain his feelings about being named the future head coach: “My family is proud to be a small part of what Coach Mazey has built at WVU. We are thankful we get to continue to be surrounded by the players, staff and families we cherish. The outpouring of love and support has been insane and appreciated. Nobody does it like WVU.”

Sabins has been responsible for some of the best recruiting classes in West Virginia baseball history and is widely-regarded as the perfect person to replace Randy Mazey following next season.
